The Memphis Grizzlies made some changes to their injury report hours before taking on the San Antonio Spurs on Tuesday night.
According to a team announcement, the star guard Ja Morant has been downgraded to doubtful for the matchup. He is dealing with a right calf contusion.
Everything seemed to be trending in the right direction for Morant on Tuesday. After he missed the Grizzlies’ latest outing against the Los Angeles Lakers, Memphis upgraded him to questionable for Tuesday’s action.
It seems some setback or discomfort is likely to prevent Morant from making his eventual return.
The last time the Grizzlies saw Morant on the court was during the January 2 game in Los Angeles. He checked in for 31 minutes, scored 16 points, and snatched a double-double with 11 assists.
The Grizzlies came up short against the Lakers with a 128-121 loss.
Morant has had his fair share of battles with setbacks throughout the 2025-2026 NBA season. After appearing in all but two of the Grizzlies’ first 14 games of the year, Morant missed 10straight games with an injury.
He returned to the court on January 12, playing in two games before going out for another four-game stretch. It’s been another season full of health struggles for the 26-year-old veteran.
When healthy, Morant has been shooting 40 percent from the field and hitting on 20 percent of his threes. He is posting averages of 19.0 points, 7.6 assists, and 3.2 rebounds.
Beyond Morant, the Grizzlies are expected to miss Brandon Clarke, Cedric Coward, Zach Edey, Ty Jerome, John Konchar, Jahmai Mashack, and Scotty Pippen Jr. On Tuesday.
The Grizzlies tip off with the Spurs at 8 PM ET.
