The Los Angeles Lakers won't have LeBron James on the court on Sunday night against the New Orleans Pelicans.
He's injured, which is concerning enough, and the Lakers ruled him out Sunday morning.
But there's something more worrisome about this, too.

Why LeBron James' new injury is extra concerning
There is added concern here because this is new.
James missed the early stages of the season with sciatica on his right side. That wasn't good, but it was one distinct injury.
Since James' return, his sciatica hasn't been mentioned on an injury report.
This, instead, is an absence due to "left foot injury management."

James has had left foot issues in past seasons, but there hadn't been an obvious point this season where he sustained this injury.
Despite that, James has enough pain that it's something that has to be managed.
Maybe it's just a way of sitting LeBron in the first game of a back-to-back.
But if it's a real injury, it seems new, and that's not ideal.
