LeBron James made the extra pass.

It may not have extended the streak of double-digit scoring games for the Los Angeles Lakers' legend, which ends at 1,297 games in a row. But it may draw long-term favor.

That's what Lakers coach JJ Redick thinks.

Redick said this to reporters after Thursday night's game, in which James finished with 8 points but made the right play to dish to Rui Hachimura for the game-winning 3-pointer rather than forcing one more shot:

"LeBron is acutely aware of how many points he has," Redick said. "... The basketball gods, if you do it the right way, they tend to reward you."

The basketball gods have certainly done James plenty of solids throughout his career, which has been filled with making the right play.

He's made it to 10 NBA Finals, winning four.

He has more points than anyone in basketball history, and remarkable health and longevity.

And now, the 40-year old may have earned himself one more big solid from the basketball divine. That could come in handy.
