Rui Hachimura injury update: JJ Redick provides grim update on Lakers forward image

The Los Angeles Lakers will be without starting forward Rui Hachimura for Tuesday's contest versus the Detroit Pistons.

Hachimura is out with calf soreness. The 27-year-old didn't practice on Monday, leading up to Tuesday's night matchup with Detroit.

Missing Hachimura for one game isn't a huge deal for Los Angeles, but it sounds like the former first-round pick is going to be out for a bit.

Rui Hachumura injury update

Ahead of the game versus the Pistons, Lakers head coach JJ Redick announced that Hachimura will miss a week of action due to a right calf injury. That means Hachimura will be out for both of Los Angeles' games versus the Memphis Grizzlies on Friday and Sunday.

Redick is hoping Hachimura can make a return to the lineup early next week.

"JJ Redick said the target is to have Rui Hachimura back early next week from his right calf soreness. He will also miss Friday and Sunday vs. MEM," Dave McMenamin of ESPN said on X.

Hachimura is averaging 12.7 points per game this season on 55% shooting from the field and 38.8% from three. Losing him for a few games is a tough blow for the Lakers.
