Most streaks don’t last forever.

It only takes one below-average performance to mess up something special, which is exactly what occurred to Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James.

While the Lakers secured an exhilarating 123-120 road victory over the Toronto Raptors thanks to Austin Reaves’ 44-point explosion and Rui Hachimura’s game-sealing three in the final seconds, the Raptors ended James' historic 1,297-game scoring streak.

“BREAKING: LeBron James’ streak of 1,297 consecutive games with 10+ points officially ends, as he scored just 8 points in the Lakers’ 123-120 win vs. Toronto tonight,” ClutchPoints’ Brett Siegel stated on X/Twitter after the Lakers’ narrow three-point win.

“This marks the first time James hasn’t scored at least 10 points in a game since January 5, 2007 vs. Milwaukee (Bucks).”

While James likely is disappointed in his failure to keep his 10-point scoring streak alive, he shouldn’t lose sight of the fact that he had a great run.

It’s extremely rare for a contributor to be a consistent 10+ point scorer without any slip-ups in over 15 years, explaining why James’ streak was so impressive.

At the end of the day, the most important thing is that James’ performance (eight points and 11 assists) was adequate enough to help the Lakers secure their 16th win of the year and keep pace with the Oklahoma City Thunder.
