This LeBron James statistical record outdates an entire NBA franchise image

Last night, LeBron James took the court for the Los Angeles Lakers for the first time this season against the Utah Jazz. It marked the start of his 23rd NBA season, which, in itself, is the record for the most seasons ever played.

It took him a while to get back into the flow of things, as evidenced by his zero points in the first quarter. Once his 'newborn lungs' got somewhat back into the flow in the second quarter, he knocked down a couple of threes and looked like he was back.

Not only did those threes elevate him past Reggie Miller on the NBA career three-point list, but they got him closer to continuing an even more mind-blowing statistic.

LeBron James has been doing this since before the Thunder existed

In James' year-23 debut, not only did he set the record for most seasons played, pass Reggie Miller for 5th on the all-time threes list, and lead his team in assists with 12, he also continued one of the most absurd stats in all of sports.

By chipping in 11 points in his debut, LeBron James continued a streak and a record that frankly, looks to never be broken. His streak of 1,293 games with 10+ points started after January 5th, 2007.

For reference, the Oklahoma City Thunder were founded in 2008.

What we have and are still seeing from LeBron James is something that many of us, including myself, are not sure we will ever see again. Raw talent is one thing, but raw talent blended with this level of longevity is just absurd.

The streak may just continue until he retires from the league, but right now, he's just focused on getting adjusted to his new teammates.
