With wins in three of their last four games, the Los Angeles Lakers sit in a tie for third place in the Western Conference.

Yet, despite their success, many fans, analysts and former players have chimed in regarding the team's direction as the trade deadline approaches.

Just recently, retired NBA center DeMarcus Cousins provided an interesting take, to say the least.

When asked if the Lakers should trade Austin Reaves in return for Dillon Brooks, the former four-time All-Star said: "In a heartbeat."

"He's a culture changer. He's a proven winner. We talk about all the glaring holes when it comes to this Lakers team. He fits exactly what they need right now. He's also averaging about 22, 23, possibly 24 a game.

"You're getting a two-way player compared to a one-sided player. Why wouldn't you do it?"

Co-host and former NBA sharpshooter Chandler Parsons reacted with the same sentiment as most Lakers fans.

"No chance. You are out of your mind," said Parsons.

Although he's currently sidelined due to injury, Reaves is 13th in the league in scoring, averaging 26.6 points per game in his fifth season. This is over a six-point increase, as he averaged just 20.2 a season ago.

Even though Dillon Brooks fits Los Angeles' current needs (a two-way wing defender), it completely disregards recent on-court disputes between Brooks and LeBron James.

Furthermore, it doesn't take into account the desires of the Suns' front office.

With Devin Booker, in addition to scorers like Collin Gillespie and Grayson Allen off the bench, Phoenix may not find the move suitable to make midseason, especially with Reaves on an expiring deal. Not only did the Suns acquire Brooks in the offseason, but he's played well for them as they sit seventh in the conference at 21-14, winners of six out of their last seven.

Nevertheless, the Lakers seem certain to make a move to add perimeter defense. That said, the chances of them acquiring Dillon Brooks for Austin Reaves seem astronomically low.
