Lakers reportedly make stance clear on adding Chris Paul to roster image

Chris Paul was immediately linked to the Los Angeles Lakers following his premature exit from the Los Angeles Clippers on Dec. 3.

After all, the Lakers nearly acquired Paul in a blockbuster 2011 trade, and the 12-time All-Star has said he would love to finish his career in Los Angeles so he can be closer to his family.

According to the Stein Line’s Jake Fischer, the Lakers have made their stance clear on on potentially adding Paul to their roster this season.

“I’ve also been strongly advised not to expect the Lakers to emerge as a potential landing spot for Paul,” The Stein Line’s Jake Fischer wrote Saturday.

“Despite the 40-year-old’s frequently cited desire to play as close to his Los Angeles-based family as possible, sources say that the Lakers are not considering Paul as a potential in-season addition despite the many years of Paul-to-the-Lakers speculation that have swirled leaguewide.”

The Lakers are unquestionably doing the right thing by avoiding Paul at all costs. While the 40-year-old will soon reach the Hall of Fame and receive the appropriate praise for his contributions on the hardwood, he isn’t a serviceable asset in 2025.

Paul only averaged 2.9 points and 3.3 assists in 16 games with the Clippers this season, shooting 32.1% from the field and 33.3% from downtown.

Perhaps Paul will find a home before the 2025-26 campaign, but it appears the Lakers aren’t a viable landing spot for the Wake Forest product.
