The Lakers have had an interesting start to the offseason, to say the least.

There's a bit of uncertainty around the future of LeBron James for the first time.

Los Angeles signed DeAndre Ayton after failing to try and get several other centers before.

They could look to make another key move, as some recent reports suggest that they might have an interest in one former DPOY winner.

What DPOY winner are they reportedly interested in?

Lakers insider Anthony F. Irwin reported that Marcus Smart is among a few players that Los Angeles has interest in.

Smart is currently on the Wizards roster, after being traded there mid-year last season.

Smart's production in the NBA has certainly dropped, but the right situation for him could be all that it takes to reenergize him.

Acquiring him would make a lot of sense, as the Lakers could use a legit backup point guard like Smart.

There have been whispers that Smart could be bought out by Washington.

Either way, the Lakers could sign him if that happens, or they have assets to get a deal done if they wanted to trade for him.
