Lakers' Luka Doncic sends heartfelt message to Nico Harrison after early season firing image

With the Dallas Mavericks cutting ties with Nico Harrison on Tuesday, reporters had a chance to ask Luka Doncic, the Mavericks’ former franchise point guard, about his thoughts on the move following the Lakers’ Wednesday night contests vs. The Oklahoma City Thunder

Fortunately, one media member maximized that golden opportunity, and Doncic didn’t disappoint with his answer, delivering a heartfelt message to the ex-Mavericks general manager.

“Dallas, fans, players, always have a special place in my heart,” Doncic said, according to HoopsHype’s Michael Scotto tweet. “I thought I was going to stay there forever, but I didn't. They’ll always be a special place for me. Always I can call it home. Right now, I'm focused on the Lakers, trying to move on.”

Essentially, while Doncic is all-in with the Lakers, he isn’t ignoring the fact that Harrison screwed up something special in Dallas.

Although Doncic’s conditioning was problematic, the 26-year-old Slovenian superstar’s game-changing playmaking at his own relaxed pace and ability to take control of games late made him an untouchable asset in many individuals’ eyes.

Players like Doncic don’t come around often, making Harrison’s decision to trade him in February ludicrous in every way imaginable.

Firing Harrison will help the Mavericks ease the pain that came as a result of the organization’s blockbuster Feb. 2 transaction, but it won’t bring Doncic back to his original NBA home.
