Lakers' Luka Doncic makes basketball history by passing Nikola Jokic on record board image

The irony is that all Nikola Jokic could do was watch.

The Los Angeles Lakers and Luka Doncic took on the Denver Nuggets on Tuesday night, but Jokic remains out with an injury. So as Doncic passed Jokic on an all-time NBA leaderboard, the Joker couldn't do anything about it.

The feat, provided by ESPN Insights, is that Doncic now has 52 career 30-point triple-doubles.

Jokic has 51 of them, and clearly can add to that total once he gets back from his knee injury.

The all-time record holder is the legendary Oscar Robertson, with 106.

Doncic has reached this mark a lot faster than Jokic, having played 483 career regular season games compared to 777 for Jokic. For reference, Robertson finished his career having played in 1,040 regular season games.

On Tuesday night, Doncic dominated the Nuggets. He put up 38 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists. He shot 12-for-21 from the floor (3-of-9 from 3) and 11-for-12 from the foul line. Doncic added a pair of steals.

The Lakers improved to 26-16, while the Nuggets fell to 29-15.

Denver will hope Jokic can get back soon, while the Lakers will gladly take more games like this from Doncic.
