Kendrick Perkins says Lakers, LeBron James should part ways image

The Los Angeles Lakers have struggled lately, and questions are being asked LeBron James' future status with the team.

ESPN NBA analyst Kendrick Perkins did not hold back regarding James and the Lakers. He said the two sides should part ways before season's end.

"Their relationship has run its course, and they need to figure out a solution," Perkins said. "The solution is not him being in a Los Angeles Lakers uniform."

James had his worst plus-minus as a Laker in the team's 119-96 loss to the Houston Rockets on Thursday. He quickly exited the court as the buzzer sounded and did not shake hands with anyone.

"When he's not engaged or he feels some type of way, it speaks in his body language," Perkins said. "Last night, his body language was awful. He was not engaged."

James has been limited after a sciatica injury delayed his start to this season. He's averaging 20.2 points, 5.1 rebounds and 6.8 assists in 13 games.

The Lakers have lost three-straight games by an average of 20.6 points. LA is 19-10, six games behind the top-seeded Oklahoma City Thunder

"He knows that this roster doesn't have enough," Perkins. "Rich Paul just said it on his podcast that the Lakers are not legit title contenders. Rich Paul is LeBron James' agent, so they both feel that way."

It's unknown if the Lakers and James are looking to end their relationship and give each other a fresh start. But both sides are clearly frustrated as the losses pile up.
