DeMarcus Cousins makes bold claim regarding Luka Dončić and his former teammate image

Prior to one of the biggest trades in NBA history, Luka Dončić and one other Dallas Maverick were the stars of the show in Texas.

That is, of course, until Dončić was traded this past season to the Los Angeles Lakers, who the Minnesota Timberwolves eliminated in the first round of this year's playoffs.

Former NBA All-Star DeMarcus Cousins claimed he would rather have Jalen Brunson over Luka.

“I'm going to take Jalen Brunson because he’s still playing, I mean that’s obvious. One guy is at home and one guy is playing.”

While what Cousins said is true, it was not too long ago that Dončić was in the NBA Finals. And of course, Brunson can smell his appearance with the New York Knicks, but he still has to go through the Indiana Pacers.

Coincidentally, these two superstars were once teammates, both playing for the Mavericks.

At a time when Dallas’ front office was not being questioned for their decisions, they had a great draft back in 2018, grabbing Dončić in the first round and Brunson in the second.

Now that they are both playing for their respective teams, they have been able to flourish.

Of course, Brunson is one series win away from making his first-ever NBA finals, and we as fans have no idea what the future holds.

Whether or not we see the Knicks' star point guard raise the Larry O’Brien trophy in a couple of weeks, Cousins is right about one thing. He is still competing, and Dončić is not.
