Stephen Curry has the highest salary in the NBA for the 2025-26 season.

At the same time, the Golden State Warriors' superstar doesn't actually bring home the most money from his contract, thanks to taxes.

It's one of those underlying things that occasionally gets talked about during free agent periods but otherwise sort of overlooked.

A new breakdown by HoopsHype has really shown the full scoop, though, and Curry pays an insane amount in taxes.

What does Steph Curry pay in taxes?

Curry ends up paying out almost half of his salary in taxes.

His gross income from his contract is $59.607 million for this season.

He will pay out $22.006 million in federal taxes and another $5.668 million in state taxes and another $0.190 million in the jock tax.

In the end, Curry nets $30.332 million from his original salary.

Four players earn more net salary than Curry: Kevin Durant ($31.58 million), Anthony Davis ($31.18 million), Nikola Jokic ($31.12 million) and Joel Embiid ($30.48 million).

It's still a hefty payday.

But when taxes are factored in, those massive numbers you see when new contracts are agreed to end up being not quite as big as they seem.
