The Golden State Warriors made a couple of new additions this offseason to play alongside Stephen Curry.
New faces like Al Horford and Steph’s brother, Seth Curry, as well as two familiar faces, Gary Payton II and De’Anthony Melton, both of whom have played with the team before.
Unfortunately, they will have to begin their season without one of these guys, according to Clutchpoints' Brett Siegel, as he rehabs a nagging ACL injury he suffered last season.
“Golden State Warriors guard De'Anthony Melton will miss the start of the 2025-26 regular season as he continues to rehab from an ACL tear he suffered last November,” Siegel said Wednesday.
“The organization and Melton had a mutual understanding with one another that he would be traded as a result of his injury, and both sides hoped to come to terms on a new deal this summer. Melton and the Warriors got their wish with his minimum-like, team-friendly contract.”
Melton and the Warriors were able to agree on a two-year $6.5 million deal.

Although Melton only suited up for six games last season with the Dubs, he was looking to be an important piece to their team.
The two-way guard averaged 10.3 points per game along with 1.2 steals in just about 20 minutes per game.
Melton is just 27 years old and has a built-in player option in his new contract, meaning the team could reconstruct a better deal for him next offseason.
Curry, Horford, Jimmy Butler, and Draymond Green seem to be locks in the starting lineup, and when Melton is healthy, he may be the fifth guy.
