There's no one in NBA history like Stephen Curry.
Of course, at this point, that goes without saying. The Golden State Warriors' superstar is the greatest shooter basketball has ever seen.
But many nights, in both the tangible and intangible feats, Curry proves that he stands alone.
That's what happened on Sunday, when Curry dropped 48 points in a narrow defeat to the Portland Trail Blazers.
It was Curry's ninth career game with at least 45 points while attempting fewer than five free throws (in this case, Curry was 4-for-4 from the line en route to his 48 points).
That's, by far, an NBA record.
The two players closest to Curry, according to Real Sports, are Kobe Bryant and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. They each did it three times.

When you think about style of play, it makes sense. Curry sometimes just gets hot from long distance and keeps letting it fly.
Later-career Kobe had games where he was mostly a jump shooter, which would limit foul shots. And Kareem could get that sky hook going, a shot that wasn't going to initiate any contact.
Yes, this is quite the specific stat. But it's also just one more way to capture the brilliance of Curry, who continues to shine so bright.
