The expectation hasn't matched the reality.

The Golden State Warriors carried out the first part of their Seth Curry plan as expected. They had him in training camp, then released him before the regular season began.

They needed to keep the contract of Steph's brother off the books for a few weeks in order to stay under the second apron.

But the math had suggested Seth could sign by the second week of November.

It's now almost Thanksgiving, and Seth still hasn't signed.

Warriors writer Peter O'Keefe has explained what's happening in a new story this week:

"Golden State are now eligible to sign a 15th player to their roster after previously being ineligible to do so at the start of the season due to financial restrictions. It's presumed that spot will be for Seth Curry who was part of the team's training camp roster, yet didn't play a single preseason minute before he was waived ahead of the regular season.

"The Warriors are clearly waiting to give themselves a little more flexibility under the second apron in case a further roster move is required."

O'Keefe presents Curry as a logical replacement for Buddy Hield if the Warriors decide they want to trade the other sharpshooter.

Hield is averaging just 6.9 points per game while shooting 30.1% from 3-point range, which isn't getting the job done.

But until the Warriors actually sign Seth, there'll be a bit of uncertainty about what they might be waiting for.
