After a mostly quiet 2025 offseason, the Golden State Warriors' future became slightly more clear after they finally re-signed their 22-year-old wing Jonathan Kuminga to a two-year, $48.5 million contract on Tuesday.
Golden State regained a massive trade chip by bringing the explosive 2022 NBA champion back, and recent reports have indicated that the the franchise's general manager Mike Dunleavy will immediately begin scouring the market once Kuminga is eligible to be moved after Jan. 15.
In fact, one NBA insider has stated that a 5-time All-Defensive Team selection and dominant two-way big man could eventually reside at the top of Dunleavy's list of All-Star caliber trade targets, plausibly ending in a deal that would ship Kuminga to the Miami Heat in exchange.
"We have all heard about Golden State's interest in Giannis Antetokounmpo dating back to before the 2020 pandemic, and that will be a situation the team monitors very closely in Milwaukee," ClutchPoints' Brett Siegel wrote Friday afternoon.
"Bam Adebayo is another All-Star in the East who would be at the top of the Warriors' list of potential trade targets if he were to ever request a trade from the Miami Heat, sources said."
If the Warriors were to hypothetically acquire the Heat's top-tier center, the team would form one of the most dangerous defensive trios in recent NBA history by pairing the 28-year-old with Jimmy Butler and Draymond Green.

Throughout his 8-year NBA tenure with Miami, Adebayo has racked up career figures of 15.7 points, 8.9 rebounds, 3.6 assists, 1.1 steals and 0.9 blocks while shooting 53.7% from the field.
The undersized center could be a perfect fit for the Warriors on both sides of the floor, as he'd be a suitable pick-and-roll partner for 4-time NBA champion Stephen Curry and a versatile defensive stalwart on the other end. With Adebayo adding more of a perimeter-oriented approach to his offensive game, he would also have the opportunity to expand his range even further as a member of a fast-paced, shot-happy Warriors squad.
Coming off of a solid season with a middling 37-45 Heat team in 2024-25, Adebayo might wish to have a better chance of competing for an NBA title in the immediate future, and he may figure that re-joining Butler, his longtime former Heat teammate, could help that cause.
