The Golden State Warriors aren’t going to let the offseason pass them by. While they still haven’t made any significant transactions, the front office is working to improve the roster. One of the easiest ways the Warriors can do that is with a Jonathan Kuminga sign-and-trade.
The Sacramento Kings have been mentioned as a Kuminga trade destination. The Kings have often coveted Warriors prospects, and Kuminga is no exception.
While the reported offer for Kuminga from the Kings of Devin Carter and second-round draft picks certainly isn’t enough to get a deal done, there still could be a Kings-Kuminga trade in the making.
Evan Sidery of Forbes recently reported that the Kings do have one player the Warriors have expressed interest in.
“The Warriors recently expressed interest in Keon Ellis, who the Kings have kept off limits in ongoing sign-and-trade negotiations involving Jonathan Kuminga.
Ellis, one of the most underrated 3-and-D guards, becomes eligible for a new long-term deal during the 2025-26 season.”
While casual fans might not think that a Keon Ellis-Warriors signing would move the needle much, Ellis could be the perfect role player for the Dubs.
Ellis would slide into the starting shooting guard role and instantly be the Warriors’ second-best three-point shooter.
Replacing Kuminga with an 8.3 points per game scorer isn’t ideal. However, Ellis shot over 43% from three last season and played 80 games.
