Jonathan Kuminga didn’t stay silent for long after re-signing with the Golden State Warriors earlier this week.
While speaking to reporters on Thursday, the 22-year-old discussed his future in Bay, and his sentiments toward the Warriors may shock everyone associated with the franchise.
“I’m here now,” Kuminga stated. “That’s my goal and that’s what I want to accomplish is being here for longer.”
Kuminga didn’t have many positive things to say about Golden State during free agency.
Kuminga voiced his displeasure with the organization’s inability to provide him with a more prominent offensive role, making ESPN’s Marc J. Spears’ mid-July report regarding the 6-foot-7 forward unsurprising.
“He wants to go, and the (Sacramento) Kings are offering a starting spot: power forward, next to Keegan Murray, next to (Domantas) Sabonis," Spears reported on NBA Today.

"He's talked on a Zoom call with Scott Perry -- as you know, the GM; B.J. Armstrong, the assistant GM; and also with (Doug Christie), their head coach, so he's in, he wants to go there."
However, a sign-and-trade with the Kings (and every other interested franchise) never materialized, which ultimately resulted in Kuminga returning to the Warriors for his fifth season.
Now that Kuminga is officially a Warrior for the 2025-26 campaign, the former first-round pick appears poised to make things work with Golden State for the foreseeable future.
Will Kuminga, who contributed 15.3 points on 45.4% field goal shooting and 30.5% long-range shooting in a reserve role with the Warriors last year, change his stance if Year 5 doesn’t go as planned? Only time will tell.
