The Golden State Warriors held their media day Monday, though there was a notable absence from the group.
Restricted free agent Jonathan Kuminga remains at a standstill with the Warriors in contract talks and did not attend media day. With the qualifying offer deadline looming, time is running out to reach an agreement.
Golden State reportedly offered the promising young forward a three-year, $75.2 million deal with a third-year team option, according to Anthony Slater and Shams Charania of ESPN. However, the team option is likely deterring Kuminga from signing, and he may opt to accept his $7.9 million qualifying offer. He’ll have until Wednesday to make a decision unless the parties agree to extend the deadline.

Draymond Green comments on Jonathan Kuminga’s standstill
Entering his 14th season in the league, Draymond Green spoke to reporters about Kuminga’s situation, showing support for his teammate, per NBC Sports Bay Area & California.
“We all understand his situation,” Green said. “He’s gotta do what he’s gotta do for himself. This is a business, and that’s where I think you always have to understand it’s unfortunate when the business side gets in front of things. But nonetheless, it is a business, and you can’t ignore that side of things.”
With training camp beginning Tuesday, the Warriors will aim to resolve the situation soon. Kuminga appears headed toward the qualifying offer, which would give him a no-trade clause.
The 22-year-old is coming off an injury-plagued 2024-25 season, appearing in just 47 regular-season games while averaging 15.3 points, 4.6 rebounds and 2.2 assists in 24.3 minutes per game. Kuminga saw limited playing time in the Warriors’ seven-game first-round series win over the Houston Rockets and may be interested in moving elsewhere for a larger role.
