Inking a two-way deal is a step in the right direction for assets hoping to be serviceable NBA contributors down the line.
However, it’s essential never to get overly comfortable, as getting waived suddenly is always on the table.
Unfortunately for a 6-foot-6, 28-year-old Golden State Warriors forward, the seven-time NBA champions did just that on Monday after less than two seasons, forcing him to continue his professional career elsewhere.
“The Golden State Warriors are waiving two-way forward Jackson Rowe,” HoopsHype’s Michael Scotto reported Monday.
Rowe spent one season with Chorale Roanne, one with the Norrkoping Dolphins, one with the Ottaway BlackJacks, and one with Medi Bayreuth before the Warriors’ G-League affiliate, the Santa Cruz Warriors, in 2023.
Rowe officially joined the big dogs in 2024 via a Summer League deal and inked a two-way contract with the franchise midway through the 2024-25 season.
In six games with the Dubs last year, the Cal State Fullerton product averaged 3.7 points and 1.8 rebounds per game, shooting 47.1% from the field and 30% from three.
Rowe didn't appear in a contest with the Dubs before getting waived this season, as he’s solely competed with Santa Cruz to start the year.
The good news for Rowe is that if the Warriors saw something in him to extend a two-way offer, there’s a good possibility another NBA franchise will too.
