Giannis Antetokounmpo is the trade target that’ll likely be at the top of the Golden State Warriors’ trade wish list moving forward.

However, a recent report from Sports Illustrated’s Chris Mannix indicates that the franchise is also closely monitoring a trade for a 27-year-old former Denver Nuggets star and NBA champion.

“Golden State is closely monitoring the Nets’ position on Michael Porter Jr,” Mannix stated Tuesday. “Brooklyn’s asking price for Porter is believed to be too high for the Warriors’ liking. But if the price comes down next week, a deal could be revisited.”

Regarding one fit, one could argue that Porter is one of the few assets who play a brand of basketball best suited to the Warriors' offensive philosophy.

High-level three-point shooting has been the name of the game for the Warriors for a decade, and with that being the area Porter excels at, it seems like a trade could benefit the seven-time NBA champions.

Porter is no stranger to success in a demanding offensive role, as he was a standout wing with the Nuggets for several seasons. The Missouri product is having the best season of his career with the Nets this season, as he’s averaging 25.2 points per game in 48.3% field goal shooting and 39.5% three-point shooting.

Expect Golden State to keep an eye on Porter’s situation in Brooklyn until the Feb. 5 trade deadline.
