Stephen Curry reflects on his Splash Brothers past in Klay Thompson's return image

Klay Thompson returned to the Bay Area on Christmas Day as a member of the Dallas Mavericks. The 35-year-old is one of the most iconic players in Golden State Warriors history, but his time with the team ended when he signed with the Mavericks.

It has not been the best move for Thompson because he is struggling with the Mavericks, but he is sorely missed in the Bay Area. His Splash Brothers running mate, Stephen Curry, was sentimental about the reunion.

Curry noticed the love for the Splash Brothers

From 2011 to 2024, Warriors fans became familiar with the Splash Brothers, the backcourt partnership of Curry and Thompson. It was one of the most successful duos in NBA history, as they won four championships together.

They also changed the course of NBA history, as they were the primary reason behind the league's three-point revolution. Nowadays, teams have a three-point-centric offense, but Curry and Thompson were the pioneers and best examples of being effective shooters.

Curry and Thompson are influential and iconic. They have maintained this stellar status throughout their careers, as they won championships in 2015, 2017, 2018, and 2022. It was a phenomenal run that people will never forget. However, it did come to an abrupt end in the summer of 2024.

"They don't miss a thing, especially the Splash Bros out there. Very sentimental moment, I'm sure. Any time we're in the same space, Draymond included, that was cool for sure... It will never be normal seeing him somewhere else. But also, we're trying to deal with the here and now," Curry said about seeing Thompson on the other side.

Thompson left the Warriors, which was a huge decision. Thankfully for everyone involved, there is no bad blood, as Thompson was welcomed with a huge ovation at Chase Center on Christmas Day.

The Splash Brothers and Green are older players now, so there will come a time when they will all retire. Rest assured that every player from the core trio will earn a jersey retirement when they step away.
