The Golden State Warriors have fallen short of their goal of competing for another NBA championship. Whether it was injuries to their two best players, Stephen Curry and Jimmy Butler, or just not having enough talent on the roster, the Warriors showed they have a chance at competing for another title but aren’t quite there yet.
Now, a recent report by Logan Murdock has linked the Warriors and Celtics in a possible Derrick White-Warriors trade.
Murdock said on the Zach Lowe Show Friday, “Another guy that I think you should look at for the Warriors going forward is Derrick White… I think that’s something the Warriors are looking at right now.”
Murdock has often had a good pulse on what is going on behind the scenes in the Bay, meaning this Warriors trade rumor could have some legs.
The Warriors are desperate to land another reliable ball-handler with three-point shooting, and White fits the bill.
Additionally, the Celtics are also on the hook for a massive payroll bill next season. It is expected that they will need to trade at least one of their significant pieces this offseason to make their team's finances viable moving forward.
This is what makes a Derrick White-Warriors trade so interesting.

The Celtics would be able to potentially pick up some cheaper, younger pieces (and potentially draft assets) to help their future, while the Warriors could find the perfect missing piece for one more Curry-led Finals run.
If Murdock is right, the Warriors should explore every option in getting White this offseason. He would be the ideal backcourt pairing with Curry. He can guard, shoot, and ball-handle, three skills that are necessary for Curry’s backcourt mate. He also has the championship experience that a team like the Warriors values highly. Warriors fans should pray that this Warriors trade rumor comes true.
