Stephen Curry, Jimmy Butler and the Golden State Warriors (9-6) are looking to claim a fourth consecutive victory as they get set to face off against the Orlando Magic (7-7) on Tuesday night, but a recent development could throw a wrench in their plans.
Golden State's rising star forward Jonathan Kuminga has been sidelined for the team's previous three contests with bilateral knee tendinitis. Though the group has come away with a win in each of those three outings, their incoming matchup against the Magic will require a massive effort from their wing rotation on both sides of the floor.
Unfortunately, the Warriors were handed a rough injury update concerning the high-flying 23-year-old on Monday night by ESPN's Anthony Slater.
"Jonathan Kuminga remains out for the Warriors tomorrow night in Orlando," Slater shared via X.
"No veterans listed on the injury report vs Magic. They are cleared for the front side of the Orlando, Miami (Heat) back-to-back that wraps up this six-game road trip."
With Kuminga ruled out for an important battle against Orlando's imposing forward Franz Wagner and their first meeting against ex-Memphis Grizzlies star Desmond Bane since he was dealt to the Magic this past summer, his absence will be felt throughout the night.
Prior to going down with his knee injury, Kuminga had contributed 13.8 points, 6.6 rebounds and 2.8 assists for the Warriors to go along with a 52.2% effective field goal percentage in 13 appearances.
Golden State's athletic wing also would have been assigned to guard the Magic's crafty scorer Wagner for large chunks of the contest.
The Warriors aim to improve their record to 10-6 and keep the good times rolling while missing one of their key offensive initiators and most solid wing defenders.
