Golden State Warriors forward Jonathan Kuminga has been the center of attention in the Bay for quite some time.

While the former lottery pick has underperformed with the seven-time NBA champions, his trade value is still relatively respectable in mid-December.

On Wednesday, ESPN’s Shams Charania released a bombshell report involving Kuminga, and there’s no doubt that it’s game-changing news for Stephen Curry and the Warriors.

“The Warriors will be open to discussing trades for Jonathan Kuminga when he is eligible to be moved on Jan. 15,” Charania reported. “Golden State hopes to improve the roster, and Kuminga's $22.5 million salary could lead to a larger trade haul.”

Kuminga is among the most alluring trade chips the Dubs could use in a franchise-bolstering mid-season deal.

The Goma, DR Congo native has exhibited enough encouraging flashes throughout his young career to attract attention from several franchises on the trade market.

Although the Dubs fell short against the Minnesota Timberwolves in the 2024 Western Conference Semifinals with Curry sidelined with a Grade 1 calf strain, Kuminga arguably played his best basketball of the year.

Kuminga averaged 20.8 points per game on 54.3% field goal shooting and 42.1% three-point shooting in five contests.

The high-motor and athletically gifted 6-foot-7 forward began the 2025-26 campaign on a positive note before ultimately hitting a rough patch.

Kuminga contributed 17.5 points while connecting on 55.4% of his field goals and 45.0% of his triples during the first month of the new season.

At the end of the day, though, Kuminga’s outlook with the Warriors looks bleak, which should ultimately lead the Dubs to feature the 23-year-old in a deal to help strengthen Curry’s championship hopes.
