When Luka Dončić was traded to the Los Angeles Lakers for Anthony Davis, the whole world was left speechless. Now that about a year has passed, it is safe to say that the Lakers won that trade.

As of December 12, 2025, Davis has played just 19 games with the Dallas Mavericks. He has dealt with multiple injuries, which is nothing new for the 6-foot-10 big man. His time with Dallas may be nearing an end if he can’t get back on the court, which means he may be traded.

A player of Davis’ caliber would require a massive haul, and ESPN believes he may be traded to the Golden State Warriors to team up with Stephen Curry.

“Although Golden State continues to play at a high level with Green on the court, he's shooting 38% from the field, his lowest mark since his rookie season -- worse even than 2019-20, when Curry played just five games during what became a gap year,” ESPN's Kevin Pelton said Thursday, “Davis would be the rim threat as a roll man the Warriors have long sought. They could also save money this season by structuring this as a multiteam deal, sending Hield to a third team. In this case, he goes to the rival Lakers to supply the shooting threat they need.”

In this case, Davis and Mason Plumlee join the Warriors, the Mavericks acquire Draymond Green, Jonathan Kuminga, and the Warriors' 2026 first-round pick, the Los Angeles Lakers obtain Buddy Hield, and the Charlotte Hornets receive Maxi Kleber and Dalton Knecht.

A duo of Curry and Davis would be impossible for teams to defend, no matter their age, and with Jimmy Butler as the third option, they may have a real shot at a championship.

Kuminga has always been a question mark for the team and even received a DNP recently. If it means giving up a team legend in Draymond to go for one last championship, then Davis may be a future Warrior.
