2025 NBA free agency: Insider believes Warriors should target this 10-year veteran PG image

The Golden State Warriors need to find a reliable backup point guard for Stephen Curry. Besides one season of Chris Paul, the Warriors have failed to have a true point guard capable of orchestrating the offense in Curry’s minutes on the bench. Bobby Marks of ESPN recently laid out some of the biggest Warriors free agency targets, and this 10-year veteran point guard fits the bill.

In NBA Insider Bobby Marks’ “NBA free agency 2025: Cap space, best fits for all 30 teams,” he named Tyus Jones as a free agent who fits the Warriors’ needs

Unfortunately for the Warriors, Jones is also labeled a fitting free agent with 13 other teams on Marks’ list.

Jones is the type of backup (or even starting) point guard that every team needs. Jones can shoot threes, score at three levels, and distribute the ball to his teammates without turning it over.

For the Warriors, Jones would represent a great backup point guard to the aging Curry. They need another primary ball handler when Curry goes to the bench. That’s why Jones should be on the short list of Warriors free agency targets.

Although Jones could likely get a starting position as a free agent signing with another team, the Warriors represent the opportunity for him to learn from the greatest point guard ever while playing important backup minutes on a contender.

Before signing another undersized guard, the Warriors will prioritize front-court and wing depth. If Jones is still available after they’ve filled those gaps, the Warriors should definitely consider a Tyus Jones free agency signing.
