As the Detroit Pistons and the Los Angeles Lakers battled it out on Tuesday night, the veteran forward Tobias Harris left the game early with an injury concern.

Unfortunately for the Pistons, Harris was ruled out for the remainder of the contest.

According to ESPN’s Dave McMenamin, Harris is dealing with a left hip sprain.

Harris appeared in just six minutes on the court on Tuesday night in Los Angeles. He went 2-2 from the field and knocked down both of his free throws to produce seven points for the Pistons before leaving the game.

Ahead of halftime, Harris’ Pistons were out in front, controlling the game with a double-digit lead. As expected, the offensive star Cade Cunningham was leading the way.

This season, the Pistons have been the hottest team in the Eastern Conference through December. Leading up to Tuesday’s action against the Lakers, the Pistons held the conference’s top record at 24-8. After losing their previous two games, the Pistons have just a one-game advantage over the New York Knicks.

Earlier this season, Harris missed a stretch of games for the Pistons. After the first six games of the season, he went on a nine-game stretch of absences before returning on November 22. Since then, he’s missed just one game.

Throughout that 16-game stretch, Harris has been averaging 47 percent from the field and 34 percent from three. He was posting 13.8 points per game, along with 4.3 rebounds and 2.5 assists.

The severity of Harris’ setback is unclear at this time, but he’ll be a name to keep an eye on as the Pistons close out their West Coast road trip. After Tuesday’s game in Los Angeles, the Pistons will be back in Michigan for a battle against the Miami Heat on Thursday.
