Nikola Jokic has already been unlike any player in NBA history.
Now, the stats prove it unequivocally for the Denver Nuggets' superstar center, giving him a prime place in basketball lore.
Jokic now has more assists than any center to ever step foot in the NBA.
Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, at the end of his incredibly long career, held the record at 5,660.
Jokic entered Thursday night with 5,654.
Against the Orlando Magic, Jokic moved ahead. And he might never get caught.
It's not hard to imagine Jokic putting at least a couple thousand assists between him and second place, if not more.

Jokic also did this incredibly quickly, of course. He has played less than half the games that Kareem did in his career, for example.
The Nuggets' MVP has averaged more than seven assists per game in his career. None of the other centers in the top-25 all-time in assists have averaged even five per game.
Players aren't supposed to do what Jokic does. He's a true center, and he throws some of the best passes you'll ever see. He's not just the best passing center ever. He's one of the best passers basketball has ever seen, period.
Maybe the only guy with a chance to catch him is playing right now. Rockets center Alperen Sengun has a lot of similarities to Jokic.
But really, it's hard to imagine anyone outdoing Jokic in this. As long as he keeps playing for a while, he'll have a great chance to put this record out of reach for good.
After all, there really has never been another basketball player like Jokic, and there may never be again.
