Nikola Jokic, Alperen Sengun make never-before-done NBA history for Nuggets, Rockets image

Nikola Jokic and Alperen Sengun are unlike pretty much any NBA players who came before them.

These are huge, often vertically challenged centers, and they put up some of the most well-rounded stat lines in basketball history.

On Monday night, fans got a treat when Jokic's Denver Nuggets took on Sengun's Houston Rockets. The duo put on a show.

In the end, they both had triple-doubles. It's the first time in NBA history that two centers had triple-doubles in the same game, according to OptaStats.

The Nuggets won in overtime, 128-125.

Jokic finished with:

  • 39 points
  • 15 rebounds
  • 10 assists
  • 2 steals
  • 2 blocks
  • 13-27 FG
  • 5-9 3FG
  • 8-11 FT

Sengun went for:

  • 33 points
  • 10 rebounds
  • 10 assists
  • 2 steals
  • 1 block
  • 14-27 FG
  • 5-6 FT

Both centers played 42 minutes in the elongated contest.

Sengun has often been compared to Jokic, at least in skillset if not quite in overall talent. But he's not far off.

Jokic is 30 years old now. Sengun is just 23. He might be the guy who follows in Jokic's career footsteps if he continues to grow.

The NBA world got a preview of it all on Monday night, when the two supremely gifted centers went right at one another.
