If Nico Harrison had a sense of humor, he'd call Rob Pelinka on Monday night.
He'd say something like this: "Hey Rob, remember when we traded you Luka Doncic for less than market value? We want him back. And we've got a shiny new toy for you. His name is Cooper Flagg, the guy we're about to pick No. 1 in the NBA Draft after winning the lottery."
Genuinely, who knows what the Lakers' front office leader would say to the Mavericks GM?
But man, if you thought the Doncic trade was surprising and out of nowhere, how about in reverse?
No, there's no indication this would happen, none at all.
It's mostly just an amusing thought experiment.

It couldn't happen straight up, anyway, given that Flagg's salary would be so much lower than Doncic's and the deal would have to follow the NBA's salary-matching rules.
But just humor the idea for a second.
Doncic going back to play for the team that discarded him would be hilarious. Flagg going to Los Angeles to play with LeBron James would be iconic. The social media discourse would be never-ending.
It's not even a pipe dream. The Mavs will keep the pick and take Flagg and hopefully not screw up with him the way they very well may have with Doncic.
But there'd be no funnier trade in the history of sports than Doncic to the Mavericks for Flagg after the basketball gods rewarded Dallas in the most unexpected way on Monday night.
