Cooper Flagg, the Dallas Mavericks' No. 1 overall selection in the draft, announced in his introductory press conference today that he will play in the NBA Summer League.

The summer league is set to run from July 10-20 at the Thomas & Mack Center and Cox Pavilion in Las Vegas, Nevada. Flagg will make his debut with the Mavericks on July 10 when Dallas takes on the Los Angeles Lakers as a part of a summer league doubleheader on ESPN.

Flagg is also set to appear in the Mavericks' second summer league game against No. 2 overall pick Dylan Harper and the San Antonio Spurs.

Mavericks head coach Jason Kidd expressed his excitement over Flagg during today’s introductory press conference, noting he’s excited to see Flagg utilized in a variety of roles.

“I want to put him at point guard. I’m excited to see Flagg utilized in a variety of roles,” said Kidd.

For Flagg, expectations are high as the No. 1 overall pick, but he isn’t too worried about them.

“I’m coming in just trying to learn and trying to get better every single day,” Flagg told reporters Friday. “I think if I can do that to the best of my ability, I think expectations and pressures that other people will put on me and our team, that will kind of work itself out. “I’m just trying to come in and be the best that I can be, and just win at a high level.”

Flagg has the potential to show off his talents early on in the summer league. The Mavericks are confident that Flagg has the potential to become the future face of their franchise and one of the next big stars in the NBA.

In addition to the selection of Flagg with the 1st pick in the NBA Draft, other Mavericks players from their G-League roster are likely to appear on Dallas’ summer league roster.
