ESPN's Shams Charania is reporting that the NBA is fining the Cleveland Cavaliers $100,000 for violating the league's policy on disclosing injury information.

"The NBA fined the Cleveland Cavaliers  $100,000 for violating the league’s Player Participation Policy when the team held Donovan Mitchell and Evan Mobley out of the team’s game against the Miami Heat on Nov. 12 for rest," wrote Charania in a post on X.

Neither Donovan Mitchell nor Evan Mobley was listed on the injury report heading into the Cavs' game against the Miami Heat.

Ever since the gambling scandal that rocked the NBA broke early in the season, the league has taken steps to become more transparent when it comes to disclosing player availability heading into games.

When it comes to the amount of money being wagered on basketball games and player prop bets, it's important for bettors and the average viewing fan alike to be aware of which players are active and which aren't.

Even if it's not gambling, fans who buy tickets to specific games hoping to see their favorite players can be incredibly disappointed when they sit down for the game and find out said player is inactive.

It's a league-wide problem and a wide-scale discussion when it comes to load management.

It would be difficult for the NBA to address the problem mid-season, especially when the gambling controversy broke so early into the 82-game-long season.

But it's safe to expect there will be discussions and changes league-wide next offseason.
