LeBron James is back in Cleveland on Wednesday night, playing for the Los Angeles Lakers against the Cavaliers.

Could he come back to the Cavs for real, though?

It seems to be in play.

It can't happen before the trade deadline, because the Cavs' position in the second apron wouldn't align with LeBron's salary in a deal.

But he's a free agent after the season. And at that point, anything could happen.

Is LeBron James coming back to Cleveland?

A return to the Cleveland Cavaliers is in play for LeBron James.

If he opts not to retire, he might just have a roster spot waiting with the Cavs.

"Multiple team and league sources told ESPN the Cavaliers would gladly welcome James back this summer if he wanted to return to Cleveland for his 24th NBA season and third stint with the team," ESPN's Dave McMenamim wrote in a new article on Wednesday.

The article doesn't make clear how James would feel about such an outcome. But it seems like, if he wanted to keep playing, he might appreciate the idea of one more chance in Cleveland with a roster that's already very strong.

Cavs fans can certainly hold out hope for this possibility. Maybe it's not the most likely, but it's not out of the question either.
