Cavs make decision on trading Donovan Mitchell, Evan Mobley image

The Cleveland Cavaliers aren't quite having the level of season as last year.

They started 2024-25 with 15 consecutive wins. This season, they've got 15 wins and 13 losses.

That has teams checking in on trades. ESPN's Shams Charania appeared on that channel Thursday afternoon and said the Cavs are getting "a ton" of calls to check in on trade opportunities.

Two names, according to Charania, are untouchable: Donovan Mitchell and Evan Mobley.

That's what you'd expect to hear, but it's just as much what isn't said that's interesting, too.

That leaves Darius Garland as a name that will now begin to float in trade rumors. The same is true for Jarrett Allen and De'Andre Hunter.

Clearly, players like that would cost a lot, and the Cavs probably aren't in a rush to trade any of them.

But this season feels like it has hit a rough patch, and it's the job of Cleveland's front office to figure out what's going on and see if there's a way to turn things around.

Maybe that's with small little moves, changes to the rotation and strategy, things like that.

Or maybe it's by sending a big statement to the rest of the team and the league that the Cavaliers aren't going to settle for less than they can be.

There's still plenty of time for trade talks to heat up, so it's not a guarantee something happens soon, or at all.

But apparently the Cavaliers have piqued the rest of the NBA's interest. It'll be up to them to decide which calls they want to answer.
