The Chicago Bulls are caught in a pickle.
This pickle's name is Patrick Williams.
The Bulls owe Williams $18 million per season through 2028-29.
And on Friday night, Williams didn't play. He'd only averaged single-digit minutes of late, anyway.
The No. 4 overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft has been a total bust, and the extension the Bulls gave him anyway isn't aging well.
This is how Spotrac's Keith Smith sums it up on X:
$72M at $18M per season through 2028-29 and that final year is a player option.

Gotta be time for a change of scenery here, assuming anyone wants to take the chance. Https://t.co/Y5GAUuOPJi

It's really hard to know if everyone would take the chance.
Williams hasn't shown much by way of useful NBA skills. His abilities pretty much all over the floor are lacking.
His pedigree might still intrigue someone, but there's a large sample of that not translating to the floor in actual NBA action.
The Bulls may end up stuck here.
