The Chicago Bulls defeated the Atlanta Hawks 152-150 on Sunday in the highest-scoring game of the NBA season so far.
It's the eighth game in NBA history where both teams score 150+ points, per Real Sports.
Missed free throws in the fourth quarter by Chicago kept Atlanta in the game. Hawks guard Trae Young missed a game-winning 3-pointer as time expired, sealing the thrilling win for the Bulls.
Forward Matas Buzelis led the way for Chicago. He had 28 points on 10/11 shooting, the most efficient 25+ point game in franchise history. Coby White scored 21 points, going 6/13 from the field and 3/7 from deep. Josh Giddey posted 19 points, while Kevin Huerter added 16.
Jalen Johnson and Young led Atlanta with 36 and 35 points, respectively. Young went 10/15 from the field and 7/8 from deep. Johnson also grabbed 11 rebounds and made nine assists. Onyeka Okongwu had his best game this month, scoring 23 points in 40 minutes.
Each team shot over 50% from the field. The Bulls shot 52/93 (58%), while the Hawks went 51/98 (52%). Both teams combined to shoot 43/89 (48%) on 3-pointers.
The loss to Chicago continues a tough stretch for Atlanta, which has lost seven its past nine games.
It was a critical matchup between two teams that are neck-and-neck in the Eastern Conference standings. The Hawks (15-15) are ninth in the East, while the Bulls (13-15) are just behind them at 10th.
The Bulls move to 2-0 against Atlanta this season. The two teams will meet again on Tuesday night at the United Center.
