Stephen Curry believes fans deserve to see his hometown team win image

Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry had his homecoming on Wednesday when the Warriors traveled to face the Charlotte Hornets.

Curry led the charge with 26 points and five threes, helping the Warriors to their 18th win of the season and sending the Hornets to 11-22 as they continue to struggle to win games.

After the game, the former back-to-back MVP was asked how much he still roots for the Hornets to win like he did in his younger years.

"I'd obviously love to see them lose twice a year when we play them, but for the city, that expectation that the Hornets are good every year and a threat in the Eastern Conference is what the fans deserve, what the city deserves, and I know they're trying to make that happen," Curry said.

Even though Hornets fans can't currently look forward to wins, they can at least get to witness the progression of their young talent, such as LaMelo Ball, Brandon Miller, and rookie of the year candidate Kon Knueppel, who combined for 80 of the team's 125 points.

The franchise-altering talent is there, but the team is still more than a few moves away from being a real contender in the East, as they seek to snap an almost 10-year streak of missing the postseason, where their last appearance ended in a first-round defeat to the Miami Heat.

All hope for this current season is not lost, however, as the Hornets could turn things around in the New Year. They will open the year with a three-game road trip, starting with the Milwaukee Bucks on Jan. 2.
