The Charlotte Hornets entered Friday night's road matchup against the Orlando Magic looking for their second straight victory after defeating the Washington Wizards on Tuesday night.
Coming off of the victory, they got off to a hot start. Charlotte outscored Orlando 38-28 in the first, behind an impressive performance from Kon Knueppel, who finished the quarter with 16 points on a perfect 4-for-4 shooting from downtown.
Unfortunately for Knueppel and the Hornets, he suffered a scary injury in the second quarter and was forced to leave the game. While guarding Desmond Bane, Knueppel jumped up to contest a floater and landed on Bane's foot, causing his ankle to bend awkwardly.
The Hornets' athletic team and trainers helped Knueppel off of the floor but he did not put any weight on his injured right foot.
In Knueppel's absence, the Hornets went on to win the game 120-105, evening up the season series with Orlando.
After the game, Charlotte received good news surrounding Knueppel's health. Head coach Charles Lee announced that X-rays came back clean, indicating no bone breaks.
That said, his timeline for return remains up in the air. Lee went on to say that Knueppel will be re-evaluated once the team returns back home to Charlotte.
With both Saturday and Sunday off, the Hornets return home to face the Milwaukee Bucks Monday. An update on Knueppel's timeline for return should be available prior to tip-off.
Charlotte will then face the Golden State Warriors at the Spectrum Center on Wednesday before setting out on a three-game road trip.
