The Charlotte Hornets need to make some major adjustments. They haven’t made the NBA playoffs since 2016, meaning if they don’t this season, that will make it a decade-long playoff drought. The Hornets tried to shake things up with a Mark Williams trade last season, but the deal with the Lakers never went through.
Marc Delucchi of Golden State of Mind has been trying to figure out the different Warriors offseason scenarios. One of them involves finally getting a Mark Williams trade done.
In this scenario, the Warriors would re-sign Kuminga, then trade Moses Moody and a 2026 first-round pick to the Charlotte Hornets for Mark Williams.
This is exactly the type of deal the Hornets should be looking to make for Williams. They pick up a semi-proven yet young piece and a first-round pick with some upside.
Moody is a great fit for the Hornets. Unlike the majority of their roster, he is a proven winner and knows what it takes to win both regular-season and playoff games in the NBA. On top of that, he is still only 23 years old. This puts him on the same timeline as the rest of the Hornets’ core.
Moody has already proven himself a solid defender and three-point shooter. With the possibility of an expanded role in Charlotte, he could blossom into something even better.

Additionally, this allows the Hornets to finally dump Williams off their roster. Williams just isn’t consistent enough to keep around. He hasn’t been healthy for more than 44 games once in his career. They need to trade him while he is healthy and still has value.
