The Charlotte Hornets have been on a tear offensively as of late. That was evident after their statement win against the Oklahoma City Thunder Monday night.
The Hornets have now scored at least 112 points over their last eight games and are averaging 121.6 points per game over that span.
Additionally, the Hornets have made franchise history, knocking down 15 or more three-pointers in each of those eight games. They are leading the league in three-point percentage over that span, shooting over 42.3%.
Monday night, Charlotte knocked down 19 triples on 51% shooting from beyond the arc.
Following the victory, rookie star Kon Knueppel talked about Charlotte's recent success offensively. "We can be an elite offensive group. We play with the pass and we play fast. That's what we've been doing for the past half-month and we want to keep it going," said Knueppel.
He went on to praise the attitude of his teammates, entering the game as heavy underdogs. "We were composed. We came in here like we belonged and we gotta do that every night."
Now with two consecutive victories, the Hornets are three games behind the Milwaukee Bucks for 11th place in the Eastern Conference.
With the success shown by their offense when healthy, if the Hornets are able to pick up their intensity on defense, they could find themselves fighting for a Play-In position come spring.
In the meantime, Charlotte will return home for their next matchup against the Toronto Raptors Wednesday.
