Nets trade proposal gives team exciting young scoring forward for almost nothing image

For the last few seasons, Brooklyn Nets trade rumors have been at the center of hypotheticals. The Nets are one of the few teams with a ton of trade flexibility. They have young players that teams are interested in. Above all, they are in need of making some moves. We take a look at a Jonathan Kuminga sign and trade opportunity that could be a low-risk, high-reward Nets trade they should consider.

Twitter user @BallReportX proposed a Celtics-Warriors trade idea amidst the Celtics rumors swirling around.

The trade idea looks like this:

Warriors Receive: Derrick White, Dariq Whitehead, Jalen Wilson, Tyrese Martin

Celtics Receive: Buddy Hield, Moses Moody, 2026 FRP & 2028 FRP

Nets Receive: Jonathan Kuminga (via sign-and-trade, 4 years / $100M)

This Nets-Kuminga sign-and-trade idea would be ideal. If the Nets can somehow get Kuminga to agree to this contract (which could be difficult), they are getting an affordable young player with star potential.

Kuminga’s stats this season took a slight dip from last year, but he has still shown flashes of brilliance on both ends of the floor.

In exchange for getting this high-potential player, the Nets are sending out three role players who are extremely replaceable. None of those three players are essential pieces for the Nets' future, and by helping the Warriors facilitate a Kuminga sign and trade, they would pick up the second-best player in the deal.

This Nets trade idea only really works for Brooklyn if they believe in Kuminga. At $25 million a year, Kuminga doesn’t need to be their franchise star, but he will need to be a piece they believe can help them make deep playoff runs in the future.

Or maybe they get lucky and Kuminga blossoms into a superstar. It certainly is possible, and a risk that the Nets should definitely consider.
