While Michael Porter Jr. Is no longer a member of the Denver Nuggets’ organization, his sharpshooting ways haven’t disappeared.
Porter, who’s a 40.6% career three-point shooter, is thriving with the Brooklyn Nets this season as the franchise’s No. 1 scoring option, averaging 26.3 points per game on 50.1% field goal shooting and 40.3% long-range shooting.
After a spectacular showing against the Dallas Mavericks on Friday night (he recorded 34 points while connecting on 60% of his field goals and 60% of his long-range jumpers), Porter made basketball history that’s never been done in the NBA.
“Michael Porter Jr is the first forward in NBA HISTORY to have 4-straight games with 30+ points, 5+ three-point makes,” Real Sports stated on X/Twitter.
Considering Porter was a part of a competitive Western Conference organization for seven years, he likely isn’t thrilled to be playing with a 6-18 Nets franchise that isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.
Porter is only two years removed from a championship with the Nuggets, making matters worse for the former lottery pick.
However, the Missouri product’s impressive perimeter play is unquestionably bolstering his trade value, which could eventually lead him to return to an organization serious about competing for championships.
No matter where Porter’s playing, though, fans should expect the 27-year-old NBA champion forward to continue to set the nets on fire.
