Nets finally earn first win, but Cam Thomas exits with hamstring injury image

The Brooklyn Nets finally broke through for their first win of the 2025–26 season on Wednesday night, but the victory came with an unwelcome setback. Entering their matchup against the Indiana Pacers, the Nets were 0–6 and struggling mightily on the defensive end. Brooklyn owned the worst defensive rating in the NBA, allowing more than 125 points per game, with their lowest total allowed being 117.

Against Indiana, however, the Nets delivered their most balanced performance of the season, holding the Pacers to just 103 points in a 112–103 win on the road. The result snapped Brooklyn’s early-season skid and showcased a promising defensive turnaround.

The Nets trailed by three entering the fourth quarter but dominated the final 12 minutes, outscoring the Pacers 32–20. Michael Porter Jr. Powered the comeback effort, recording a game-high 32 points on 10-for-20 shooting along with 11 rebounds. His efficient scoring and activity on the glass helped steady Brooklyn during several key stretches.

Nic Claxton added a strong all-around performance as well, finishing with 18 points, 10 rebounds, six assists, three steals and two blocks.

Despite the encouraging win, the Nets were dealt a significant blow. Guard Cam Thomas exited after just six minutes due to hamstring tightness. According to NBA insider Michael Scotto, the injury occurred in the same hamstring that limited Thomas to only 25 games last season. The team is expected to evaluate him further in the coming days.

Brooklyn will have Thursday off before returning to action on Friday night, when they host the Detroit Pistons in search of their second consecutive victory.
