Should the Celtics keep Kristaps Porzingis over Jrue Holiday? image

Kristaps Porzingis has had several highs and lows since entering the league.

His projected ceiling looked like a top-five center in the NBA, but injuries and lack of consistency have hindered that.

This past postseason ruined Porzingis' image in some fans' eyes, but he should still get one more chance.

Why Boston should not trade Porzingis this offseason

The Celtics struggled against the Knicks in their second-round matchup this postseason.

Porzingis' struggles were often blamed for the poor team performance.

It was revealed that he was fighting a post-viral issue from an illness that kept him out for weeks late in the regular season.

Those who aren't only box-score watchers saw the impact Porzingis had when healthy, and it was bizarre to see him have such a big drop-off in a short period of time.

Kristaps has heard throughout his whole career that he's injury-prone and is now being viewed as a negative asset.

He was able to stay on the court aside from his viral issue in the 2024-25 season, after returning from the injury he and the Celtics mutually agreed to play through in the 2024 NBA Finals.

If Porzingis' value has tanked, they shouldn't look to trade him for a poor return.

It's better to take the gamble and keep Porzingis, seeing first-hand how he helped the Celtics win a championship in 2024.

KP only has one year left on his contract anyway, so it's a low-risk move to keep him on the roster.

Jrue Holiday has a much longer contract and is five years older the Porzingis.

Holiday is a talented player, but had a big drop-off from the 2023-24 season, making him more replaceable at the moment.

The future of Al Horford and Luke Kornet is not entirely certain, so prioritizing keeping Porzingis is important if they don't have depth among their bigs.
