The Boston Celtics were unquestionably the busiest franchise on Tuesday.
Shortly after trading Georges Niang to the Utah Jazz, Boston signed a two-time NBA Champion forward who spent one season with the Golden State Warriors.
“Free agent forward Chris Boucher has agreed to a one-year, $3.3 million contract with the Boston Celtics,” ESPN’s Shams Charnaia wrote on X/Twitter. “Boucher lands a guaranteed deal with the Celtics and is expected to have a significant role in the frontcourt.”
“Boucher departs Toronto (Raptors) where he has the all-time franchise record in points, rebounds, blocks, minutes and games played off the bench. He also was the Raptors' last remaining member of the 2019 NBA championship team.”
Boucher has come a long way in the big leagues. The 32-year-old veteran was a non-factor to begin his NBA career (despite winning his first title with the Dubs in 2018), but began to display signs of improvement as a third-year contributor with the Raptors.
Fast forward to 2025, and Boucher is officially a legitimate NBA role player. The Oregon product is not only a versatile defender with an advantageous 7-foot-4 wingspan, but also an underrated finisher with a serviceable long-range jumper.

Boucher averaged 10.0 points and 4.5 rebounds with the Raptors last season, shooting 49.2% from the field and 36.3% from deep.
With the Celtics looking to surround Jaylen Brown with as much help as possible following Jayson Tatum’s massive lower-body setback, Boucher should be viewed as a positive early August signing.
