So far this season, the Boston Celtics have exceeded expectations. With Jayson Tatum out and their lack of a center, they were written off by most teams and fans.
Their core was dismantled, and they clearly didn’t have the talent they are used to. This is what people thought about two months ago, but now the Celtics are third in the Eastern Conference and have had their fair share of impressive wins.
While players like Neemias Queta and Jordan Walsh have stepped up, acquiring a big man with more experience would benefit this team greatly. Luckily, Cal Durrett of Hoops Habit drew up a trade that can solve two teams' biggest problems.
“There are few big men in the NBA who can both block nearly two shots and hit two threes per game, and (Myles) Turner is one of the few that can. He is also only 29 years old and under contract for the next 3 years after the season,” Durrett said Friday.
“He may be slightly overpaid, but he'd solve their center problem long-term. As far as a potential trade, the Celtics could ship out Anfernee Simons and two first-round picks for Turner.”
An Anfernee Simons for Myles Turner swap is definitely something both the Celtics and Milwaukee Bucks should explore.
Boston has always been in the mix when talking about acquiring Turner. His defensive versatility and ability to knock down three-pointers would allow him to fit in seamlessly with Boston and Joe Mazzulla’s preferred play style.
The consensus around Simons was that he wouldn’t be on the team longer than a year. His expiring contract was taken on to clear money, but because Milwaukee doesn’t have Damian Lillard, why not get the player who learned directly from him.
His outside shooting is exactly what the Bucks need alongside Giannis Antetokounmpo, and because most of Milwaukee’s first-round picks are wrapped in swaps with other teams, taking on more draft capital makes this trade beneficial for both sides.
