With the Boston Celtics wrapping up their preseason on Wednesday, it’s time for the franchise to begin finalizing its opening night roster.
The Celtics did just that on Thursday afternoon, cutting ties with a 6-foot-5 former Duke guard three weeks after signing him.
“The Boston Celtics have waived Jalen Bridges, Kendall Brown, and Wendell Moore,” HoopsHype’s Michael Scotto reported. “Ron Harper Jr. filled Boston's vacant two-way spot following the departure of RJ Luis.”
The Dallas Mavericks selected Moore on draft night (2022), but he eventually landed with the Minnesota Timberwolves after getting traded twice in one day.
Moore appeared in 54 contests with the Timberwolves from 2022 to 2024 before the franchise included him in an offseason trade to the Detroit Pistons.
Moore only lasted 20 games with Detroit before getting waived in early February. The 24-year-old signed with the Charlotte Hornets shortly after, averaging a career-high 5.4 points per game on 47.4% field goal shooting and 37.0% three-point shooting in 16 outings.
After a slow offseason, Moore signed a training camp deal with the Celtics in late September, giving him a chance to separate himself from the rest of the competition.
Moore contributed 3.5 points per contest on 75% field goal shooting (he failed to connect on a three-point jumper) in two preseason contests, resulting in the Celtics washing their hands with the former first-round pick before the start of the regular season.
Considering Moore is still young and has time to develop, it wouldn’t be mind-blowing to witness him ink a new NBA contract at some point during the 2025-26 campaign.
